MOMS MATTER

Self Care

On airplanes, we are told to put on our own oxygen mask before assisting our children. The best self care leads to fully present and able motherhood.

What is Self-Compassion and Empowerment Therapy?

Being self-compassionate is not selfish. I work with women and mothers to take good care of their own physical and emotional needs, allowing them to be more present and empathic to their families and others in their lives. I guide women to find their inner voice that empowers them to deal with the mental load that is placed on women and mothers in our society.

Mommy Martyrdom: Don’t Sacrifice yourself for everyone else’s needs

A “Mommy Martyr” is a mother who will do everything she physically can for her family at the expense of her own health and happiness.

As expectant mothers we take good care of our bodies as we grow life inside of us. Too often, after birth, we stop taking care of ourselves to focus on caring for our children. Our own healthy minds and bodies are just as crucial to successful parenting post-partum and beyond.

Motherhood and the Mental Load

In today’s society more is expected of women and mothers than ever before. Often we don’t know how to speak up about our own needs. This leads to overwork, burnout, and mental breakdowns. Finding ways to share responsiblities with partners, and schedule time for mental health breaks is key to balancing the mental load of motherhood.
